What Is Consular Legalization in Germany?
Consular certification and German consular legalization are two important steps in the administrative procedure to verify the origin of documents, including authentication of seals, signatures, and titles on papers issued by Germany or Vietnam for use in the other country. Specifically:
- Consular Certification: This is the first step in the consular legalization process, carried out at the competent diplomatic authority of the issuing country to ensure that the document can be legally used in another country. The authority responsible for consular certification is usually the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- Consular Legalization: The final step of the consular legalization process takes place at the competent diplomatic authority of the country where the document will be used, ensuring that the document has full legal validity in the country of use. The authority performing consular legalization is usually the Embassy or Consulate General of the country where the document will be used.
