Procedures for Consular Legalization of Danish Documents for Use in Vietnam

Documents issued by competent authorities or by businesses, organizations, or individuals in Denmark must be legalized at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen and the Vietnamese Embassy in Copenhagen before they can be legally used in Vietnam.

Note: The Danish Embassy in Vietnam does not provide legalization for documents issued in Denmark. If you need to legalize these documents, you must send them to Denmark and follow the proper procedures in that country.

Step 1: Translate the Documents

If the original document is not in English, you first need to translate the document into English. The translation must be performed by a certified notary at the city court or a Danish business to ensure the accuracy and legality of the translation.

Step 2: Legalization at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs

After the document has been translated, the next step is to legalize it at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Ministry will certify the document by applying an Apostille – an international certification under the Hague Convention.

This process confirms that the document was legally issued in Denmark, is valid for international use, and can be recognized in other countries, including Vietnam.

Step 3: Legalization at the Vietnamese Embassy in Denmark

After the document has been legalized at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs with an Apostille, the next step is to submit the document to the Vietnamese Embassy in Copenhagen for consular legalization. The Embassy will certify the signature of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and confirm the legality of the document for use in Vietnam.

Important Note: The Vietnamese Embassy does not certify the content of the translation or the document; it only verifies the legality of the document and certifies the signature from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Step 4: Use the Document in Vietnam

After completing the consular legalization procedures at the Vietnamese Embassy, your document will officially have legal validity and can be used in Vietnam. Legalized documents can be used for various purposes, including administrative, legal, educational, employment, and other transactions in Vietnam.

This process ensures that documents from Denmark are legally recognized when used in Vietnam.
